Ubisoft NXT Competition
This piece was my submission for the 2018 Ubisoft Toronto NXT Competition. Participants in the modelling challenge were given two options: model a back alleyway, or a chai stall called "Nale Ba". I chose the the chai stall because I felt like I would be able to add more character to the scene than if I had modeled the back-alley. Some of the design choices I made were to have the VR Pod look more like a cryosleep pod, and to make the stall like a hut as opposed to a building. Most of the assets in the scene were created in Maya and textured in Substance Painter, but some assets, such as the figurines, I sculpted in ZBrush, baked the maps in xNormal, and finished in Substance Painter. I had a dedicated 16 hours a week to work on this project for 5 weeks and then from there I added final details up until the submission date.
